Downtown Ayden is a little architectural
treasure in Pitt County, featuring private residences
and business buildings originating in the early days of
the 20th century. But Downtown Ayden has much more to
offer than nice architecture. Our Business
District is home to 14 retail businesses, restaurants,
bakeries, and services. From antiques over books,
fine wines and cheese, to buying fishing gear or your
beautician visit, all can be found in Downtown Ayden.
Ayden is a walk able town. Pedestrian friendly
sidewalks under big oak trees make it a pleasure to go
on your Sunday walk, window shop, or just get your
exercise.
Many outdoors activities are taking place in Downtown
Ayden, like the Ayden Sundowns, the Ayden Collard
Festival, and the annual Christmas Market and Christmas
Parade.

Downtown Ayden has been home to the annual
Collard Festival for over 30 years.
Parades, live entertainment, food vendors, arts and
crafts exhibitions, and rides are turning Ayden into a
big festival for the entire family. The Collard
Festival is taking place the week after labor Day,
beginning with the beauty queen pageant on Tuesday.

Roy Petty Golf Tournament will be
held on Thursday, April 26th at the Ayden Golf and
Country Club. Rain date is set for May 3rd. Golfers will
tee off at 1:00pm, with a steak dinner to follow at
6:00pm. For more

The Ayden Art Walk will be held
April 13th-14th in Downtown Ayden. Art from students at
Ayden Elementary School, Ayden Middle School,
Ayden-Grifton High School as well as Grifton School will
be available for viewing. Please come and support our
students while browsing the merchants in Downtown Ayden. |

Ayden Beach Bash to be held
Thursday, June 21st featuring music by The Craig Woolard
Band. The FREE concert will be held on the stage
in downtown Ayden from 7-9 pm. There will be food
vendors as well as arts and crafts. Fun to be had

The Ayden
Collard
Festival is an event for the entire family.
Every year after labor Day for over 30 years now the
Collard Festival turns Downtown Ayden into a big stage:
arts & craft exhibits, food vendors, toys, face
paintings, games for young and old, rides, and of course
free life music on three different evenings are a reason
for everybody to come out and be part of one of the
oldest festivals in Eastern North Carolina.

Downtown Ayden at Christmas time is eye
candy for everyone. Downtown merchants turn their
windows into little winter wonderlands, and the Town is
decorated beautifully. Just the right setting for
our Chamber Christmas Program. To start off the
Christmas Season Downtown Ayden sponsors the Ayden
Christmas Market. Arts & craft vendors
showcase and offer everything your heart desires to
decorate your home as well as gifts for the entire
family. Food vendors offer hot chocolates, funnel
cakes, and bake ware. Santa Clause stops by and
you can have your picture taking on his lap (there is no
age limit for this treat)!
The Ayden Christmas Parade has been a tradition
in our Town for almost 20 years now. A wide variety of
groups participate in the Parade year after year. |
