| Roy Petty Memorial Golf Tournament Huge Success - Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 15:39

After several dreary days, the clouds parted way for the sun and a wonderful day of golf!The Roy Petty Memorial Golf Tournament, held by the Ayden Chamber of Commerce, was held Tuesday, October 13th at the Ayden Golf & Country Club. Seventeen teams participated in this year's tournament with prizes being awarded to the top three teams as well as a team putting contest and a closest to the line contest.
Winners were first place Ayden Insurance, Jimmy Wall, Dean Wingate, Pete Beamon and Tom Boyd. Second Place was Greenville Express Care, Dr. Don Ribeiro, Rory Wood, Louis Godwin & Jerry Cunningham. Third place went to Service Team of Professionals, Brad Lamson, John Ross, Chris Cannon and Denton Hardee. The team putting contest was won by Ayden Christian Church, Roy Richardson, Rodney Harris, Bear Baldree and Royce Richardson. The closest to the pin was won by Pete Beamon on holes 4 and 9. On hole 12 the winner was Jim Seagrave and Dean Wingate on hole 17. The closest to the line winners were Virginia Smith for the ladies and Ronnie Hardee for the men. A steak dinner was served following the tournament.
The Chamber would like to thank all of the sponsors that played a huge role in making the tournament a huge success. The scoreboard was sponsored by the Pepsi/Minges Bottling Company.
